Chamber Music

Students are welcome to join the chamber music program without an audition - enrollment is open and students can join at any time. We aim to make chamber music accessible for all students interested.

Chamber music is a special form of classical music, which can include duets, trios, quartets, quintets and more.

Working closely in a small ensemble fosters students abilities to collaborate on a deeper level. It promotes more confidence in a student’s performance, as everyone in the ensemble is basically a soloist. It heightens the students awareness, ability to listen, lead, and follow other musicians. It’s an incredible opportunity that many student musicians do not have access to. GRYS is thrilled to fill this void.

Chamber Ensemble rehearsals will take place on Thursday evenings from 7pm-9pm. For students who participate in our orchestra program and the chamber program, we will provide additional rehearsal space on Sunday afternoons.

GRYS recognizes that many students are very busy with school work and other responsibilities. As such, students do not need to participate in all chamber performances. We ask that students commit to performing 1-2x/semester with their chamber ensemble. There will be many opportunities to perform- but we want to respect the student’s schedule and academic priorities.

Please note: Students are welcome to use this as an opportunity to receive chamber coaching on their ‘Solo and Ensemble’ repertoire.
