2024 Summer Camp

The GRYS 2024 Summer Camp is scheduled from Monday, June 10th through Saturday, June 15th.

Program Overview

The Summer 2024 Intensive will focus on the following for students ages 6-18:

  • Full Orchestra

  • Chamber Music

  • Conducting Workshop

  • Masterclasses

  • All-state prep

    • A solo or étude of the student’s choice that shows technical and lyrical abilities

    • For students 12 and younger, recommendation from current private lesson teacher

    • Ages 6- 16

    • Currently working on Suzuki Books I or II

    • Minimum 1 scale - D Major & G Major Scales

    • An excerpt from a Grade 1 orchestra piece, such as Gaelic Castle or a solo

    • Optional - for intermediate group, an excerpt from a Grade 2-3 piece, such as Ides of March, or a solo

    • A solo or étude of the student’s choice that shows technical and lyrical abilities

    • All strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, and harp are eligible. Percussionists, please contact Amanda Casper.

    • Ages 12-18

    • A solo or étude of the student’s choice that shows technical and lyrical abilities

    • (2) two-octave scales selected by student

Schedule & Location

Weekly Program Schedule (June 10 - June 15):

  • Monday-Friday, ages 6-16

    • 9:00 - 10:00 AM: Elementary School Students (Beginner)

    • 10:15 - 11:15 AM: Middle School Students (Intermediate)

  • Monday-Friday, Advanced All-Day Program, ages 12-18

    • 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM: Chamber Music, Orchestra, All-State Prep, Audition Strategies, Masterclasses

  • Monday-Friday, Piano Intensive, ages 8-18

    • 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM: All Levels

Tuition (due by June 5th):

  • Registration fee: $25 (due upon filling out application)

  • Beginner & Intermediate: $250

  • Advanced: $475

  • Financial Aid, including scholarships and payment plans, are available - no student will be turned away due to financial hardship

  • Tuition and registration can be paid via Zelle to acasper@greaterrockwallyouthsymphony.org, check, or online on our site.

    • A service fee is added to online payments to cover credit card payment processing. To pay $25 for registration (and avoid processing fees) please pay by check, cash or via Zelle to acasper@greaterrockwallyouthsymphony.org.

Locations:

St. Benedict’s Church has generously offered to host our Summer Intensive programs. They are located at 1616 North Lakeshore Dr, Rockwall, TX 75087.

How to Apply & Audition

Please complete the registration form below. After submitting the form, you will need to pay the registration fee and submit a video audition via YouTube. Please upload your audition video to YouTube and title it “Student Name - Instrument.” Then mark it as either “Public” or “Unlisted” and submit the URL using the form below. Do not mark as “Private.”
