GRYS Summer Camp 2026

Program Overview

The Summer 2025 Intensive will focus on the following for students ages 6-18:

  • Full Orchestra

  • Chamber Music

  • Conducting Workshop

  • Masterclasses

  • All-state prep

  • Music Theory

  • Ear Training

  • Resume Writing

  • Interview and Audition Strategies

    • A solo or étude of the student’s choice that shows technical and lyrical abilities

    • For students 12 and younger, recommendation from current private lesson teacher

    • Ages 6- 16

    • Currently working on Suzuki Books I or II

    • Minimum 1 scale - D Major & G Major Scales

    • An excerpt from a Grade 1 orchestra piece, such as Gaelic Castle or a solo

    • Optional - for intermediate group, an excerpt from a Grade 2-3 piece, such as Ides of March, or a solo

    • A solo or étude of the student’s choice that shows technical and lyrical abilities

    • All strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, and harp are eligible. Percussionists, please contact Amanda Casper.

    • Ages 12-18

    • A solo or étude of the student’s choice that shows technical and lyrical abilities

    • (2) two-octave scales selected by student

Schedule & Location

Intermediate Weekly Program Schedule (June 8 - June 13):

  • Monday-Friday (Based on skill level)

    • 9:00 AM - 1 PM

  • Monday-Friday, Advanced All-Day Program (Based on skill level)

    • 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM: Chamber Music, Orchestra, All-State Prep, Audition Strategies, Masterclasses

  • Monday-Friday, Piano Intensive, ages 6-18

    • 1 PM - 3 PM: All Levels

Tuition (due by June 5th):

  • Registration fee: $25 (due upon filling out application)

  • Beginner & Intermediate: $250

  • Advanced: $475

  • Financial Aid, including scholarships and payment plans, are available - no student will be turned away due to financial hardship. Please complete the financial aid form here.

  • Tuition and registration can be paid via Zelle to acasper@greaterrockwallyouthsymphony.org, check, or online on our site.

    • A service fee is added to online payments to cover credit card payment processing. To pay $25 for registration (and avoid processing fees) please pay by check, cash or via Zelle to acasper@greaterrockwallyouthsymphony.org.

Locations:

Joy Lutheran has generously offered to host our Summer Intensive programs. They are located at 302 N. Goliad St, Rockwall, TX 75087.
