Abby Waymon

Abby Waymon is a Director of Orchestras at Curtis Middle School. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education and her Master of Double Bass Performance from Oklahoma City University, where she graduated with honors. Abby is the conductor of the Intermediate Strings Ensemble with the Greater Rockwall Youth Symphony and serves as a clinician for various districts around North Texas.

Previously, she held the position of Assistant Orchestra Director at Rockwall High School, where she directed beginner, sub-non varsity, non-varsity, and varsity orchestras. She also served Rockwall ISD as Assistant Orchestra Director at Utley Middle School. While in Rockwall IAS, Abby’s ensembles consistently earned superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluations. Before that, she was Assistant Orchestra Director at Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City and a teacher and conductor at El Sistema Oklahoma, conducting full orchestra and teaching cello and bass.

Her dedication and success in education have been recognized with awards such as the Utley Middle School Staff-Nominated Awards, Putnam City Superstar Teacher, and Oklahoma City University Music Educator of the Year. Beyond her teaching roles, Abby has performed with the Fort Smith Symphony and several ensembles at Oklahoma City University, including the Early Music Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Pit Orchestras for various operas and musicals
